If you guys are friends there shouldnt be a problem. After all, you are just trying to do whats best for your boy. Taking care of your own always comes first.

If there are hard feelings its not because your doing something wrong its because the coach(s) are being selfish.

Doing the right thing isn't always the easy thing to do.
Statman,
Agree with Backdash. You should have no reservations about doing what is right for your son. But first, ask your son what he wants to do. Explain to him the pros and cons of staying with his current team and of leaving for a better baseball environment. Find out what he wants to do. I would also approach this situation with a little more tact.

So how do you pull your kid (the top player by far) off a team without any hard feelings
You DON'T!
You sit down with his current coach and explain your son's options and his opportunities and ask the coach for his input. Be sure and ask him: "If this was your son, what would you do?” If you handle it properly this will be a positive experience for all involved, especially your son.
