Anybody who is anybody on the hsbbweb knows of the kindness and support that lafmom provides to each and every members' kids and/or family on this site.

Well, now it is time for us to show our appreciation toward her and specifically recognize the fabulous summer her son has had in the Nashville Collegiate Wood Bat League.

Her son Michael Curtis was having a fabulous summer on the mound with an ERA that was well below 2.00 and then he decided to get serious Smile His last outing was sensational as he tossed a NO HITTER

Michael did not pitch as much as he would have liked this past spring but still managed to excel in the classroom. He has since transferred to a four year program that both he and Mom are very happy with plus he maintains four full years of eligibility. First, huge congrats to Michael, and secondly thanks and congrats to lafmom - it is wonderful when great things happen to great people

CD - That is so very kind of you! You know though I don't give anything here that you and many others don't offer many times over!

A no-hitter in a wood league isn't quite the same as with metal. However, for a kid that's worked very hard this past year converting from a position player to a pitcher, he feels very proud of his accomplishment this summer as do I! If he continues to pitch like he has been, he will end up one of the top pitchers in the league! That's pretty exciting for any kid, but especially one building his confidence in a new role!

Topdogfan - You and I have been too busy discussing possible coaching changes to talk real baseball! I suspect ESPN may call at any moment to have us do on air live analysis! LOL Wink

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes! They are appreciated more than you know!! Smile
Thanks again everyone. I know though that the HSBBW kids accomplish great things every day! It's wonderful being a part of this community.

Fungo - That is one of my favorite southern expressions. Don't hear it around here too much, but when I visit my family in AL, you hear "come here, let me hug your neck" all day long! I love it!!! Smile

Don't downplay the accomplishment laf ... he's doing great, especially with such limited playing time in the spring. Sounds like that confidence is building, and building, and building

Thanks folks!

AK - I had showed this thread to my son and he got a big hoot out of IB's post about having my genes! Now, I'll have to tell him he's referred to as Lafjr!! Fortunately for both of my kids, they did not inherit my athletic ability or neither would have played sports beyond elementary school!! Big Grin

I hope you're continuing on the mend kiddo and all ready for a new school year!
njbb - Thanks! I did not get to see this game. I was very fortunate though this summer to be able to get to Nashville and see a lot of innings! Actually saw son pitch against this same team in the playoffs where he wasn't able to hold them hitless again - did hold them runless until in the sixth where they scored two off of him. We won though - 3-2! Smile A good reminder that there's ups and downs in this game! Very little remains consistent.

Still hoping to catch Chris! Let me know if things change and he's nearby!
