A great college baseball season was completed today with Texas being crowned the National Champions. Kept waiting for them to stumble but they did not. In fact, the Longhorns have grown on me during this tournament. A very fundamentally sound team and obviously well-coached. Looking forward to an exciting year already for next year.

Texas certainly was very sound. I only caught a part of today's game, but it was enough. While I was pulling for Florida, there was no doubt who was coming out on top. Congratulations to the guys and coaches from Texas!!!!

I have been unable to hear what was found to be wrong with the Florida pitcher who went down the other night. ?Hamstring or what.
You know there are times someone wins it and you feel that they were the best team that week but there are other teams as good or better that did not make it to Omaha or just didnt catch the breaks. This year in my opinion Texas was just the best team period. Very sound fundementally. Very well coached. Outstanding pitching with quality depth. Great catcher. Great defense. And outstanding at the plate. They deserved to win it. They are the best team in the nation. They left no doubt in anyones mind. Congratulations to the Longhorns.
Now, now boys, just because I'm "discussing" with swingbuster in another thread doesn't mean anything in this thread. You can't hear any voice inflection in my post.

It wasn't said sarcastically or in a condesending manner. IMHO, he doesn't center the ball very well and his power is illuminated by aluminum.

And, if I had to bet, I'd bet against the kid playing mlb. It will take a major change for him to get there. IMHO. Smile Smile

Just to point out something. The name of this thread is "Congrats to Texas" not "will these players make it to the bigs." I was simply relaying my opinon of the hitter in actual games. Regarless of what you think about his swing, I see the potential. I have not given up on him. That is why they call it development. There are many big leaguers who don't do it the "proper" way. Yet, they are there. I refuse to deal in absolutes when it comes to a 19 or 20 year old.

I have actually watched the player live and if he continues to impove he has a chance to play big league ball. He certainlly will be drafted and get his opportunity. The assumption that one will not learn or his to have a swing as good as Barry Bonds is an absurd notion. Even Barry didn't have Barry's swing at the beginning of his career. Everything is not black and white and people work hard to improve and sometimes it happens. It is easy to assume that one will not make the show. Most don't.

So let us get back on track and not hijack this thread further.
