I agree with justbaseball...It's probably ok to send some letters of interest this early but his performance during his sophomore season and this summer as a rising Junior may dictate how aggressive you will be in contacting coaches.

Now if he was a stud freshman and contributed heavily in varsity last year, then maybe you can send to select colleges of his liking.

Our son is a soph as well. He sent a thank you email to the college coaches for the camp. Not only the coach of the school that hosted the camp, but, also any additional coach from other schools that worked with him.

In the thank you he mentioned that he was interested in playing baseball in the future and asked for info regarding the school or procedures to follow.

Made sure to have son write the email, though we checked it for grammar and texting type errors. It sounded like a soph, not a canned letter.

One thing we did encourage him to do was to add his goals at the bottom of the email similar to how some folks on here have a tag line to their posts. Every coach that responded to his thank you email also mentioned that they liked his goals.

It was a nice way to initiate contact and fairly low stress for son.
