Ohio Judge Orders NCAA to Justify Why It Is Not In Contempt

Apparently, the Judge that ruled in favor of Oliver of OSU, wants the NCAA to explain why they shouldn't be held in contempt of court for continuing to enforce the rule the court struck down.

Earlier this month, the NCAA sent out a memo saying that the judges ruling in the Oliver case was limited in scope and that the NCAA would continue to enforce the "no representation" rule, basically thumbing their noses at the court.

Getting wind of this, the judge in the case has ordered the NCAA to appear on 5/27 and explain why they should not be held in contempt.

It's amazing to me that the NCAA, even in the light of day that the rule does nothing to harm amateur status, would continue to try and enforce a rule thats only true effect does nothing but disadvantage the student. Their actions are those of the quintessential bully, not backing down until the principle makes them. These are supposed to be learned adults, and they are behaving like schoolyard buffoons.

EDIT: Fixed the above link...thanks

NCAA are a bunch of (insert your favorite descriptive expletive). They should be looking for ways to increase opportunities for higher education. For those that don't know, I'm talking about NCAA's caps on baseball scholarships and roster sizes as well as the most restrictive academic requirements of any NCAA athletic program.
