Anyone have any information on these former Coppell players? Are there any others in professional baseball that I'm missing?
Rocky Cherry is on the Chicago Cubs 40 man roster
He pitched AAA ball before having a Tommy John surgery a year and a half ago. Apparently he is recovering nicely. I just read this:
3/15/07 article: In his first five appearances with the club this spring, Cherry had tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings before surrendering the game-winning run in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s 6-5 Cactus League loss to Arizona. His performance has not gone unnoticed by Cubs manager Lou Piniella. “He’s got nice presence. He’s got good stuff,” Piniella told Cubs beat queen Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.
Jason Stokes is on the Florida Marlins 40 man roster. He's been in AAA baseball, but I know he has had several injuries over the last couple of years so he didn't play much last year. Haven't heard what he is doing this spring.
Koley Kolberg is in the Arizona Diamondback organization. I heard he is off at spring training but haven't heard anything about his status.
