Since it's pretty certain that the Cubs will be in The World Series this year, just about the only thing we don't know is who they will be playing.

I thought the sox had a chance but they have decided to raise the white flag and maybe have lost their chance. Crede will be traded, probably after he wins his arbitration hearing.

Who will be the AL representative to the WS?

Saying that the Cubs have no pitching is just not fair. They will possibly have the top bullpen in the NL next year with Cotts, Wood, Miller, Eyre, Howry, Ohman, and Dempster (if he can go back to his old self Smile ) Prior has a very good chance of being healthy by the end of spring training and put in the rotation.. Zambrano is becoming more experienced, Lilly is switching from a tough AL Division to a weaker NL Central, Marquis has been working hard with Rothschild after the World Series, and Rich Hill has shown he can pitch lights out at the major league level.

1.Zambrano
2.Prior
3.Lilly
4.Hill
5.Marquis
(wade miller, kerry wood, etc)

Howry and Eyre both solid...But possibly the best bullpen in NL...please.

Ohman: REC 1-1 | SV 0 | ERA 4.13
Wood: REC 1-2 | SV 0 | ERA 4.12 - 4 games pitched.
Miller: REC 0-2 | SV 0 | ERA 4.57 - 5 games pitched.
Cotts: REC 1-2 | SV 1 | ERA 5.17
Dempster : REC 1-9 | SV 24 | ERA 4.80 - 9 blown saves.

Rich Hill pitches lights out??? maybe if you don't count the game against the Sox.

Glad your counting on Rothschild straightening out Marquis, as he had such a great track record with the Cubs pitchers in the past few years.

Also glad to see your counting on Prior as #2 guy since he had such a stellar 2006...REC 1-6 | SV 0 | ERA 7.21

With that logic, the Cubs have had the best pitching staff for the last 5 or 6 years. And we can see what that has gotten them! Prior has been "expected to be healthy by the end of spring training" every year since he's been in the league!!

I'll give the Cubs credit for one thing: They have fans that support them year in and year out. won't claim they're the smartest fans in the world, but not many fans are all that inteligent.

Will continue to chuckle down here in CARDINAL NATION!
You're right, it is after all just your opinion, and yours differs from mine, so what. You know what they say about opinions.

Man it must be a feeling indescribable to always be right.

In the same breath, I'd mention the Red Sox, A's, Astros, Twins, Braves and Mets.

But, it's just my opinion and it's probably wrong.

BTW, Baseball statistician Bill James, in his New Historical Baseball Abstract, listed Bagwell as the fourth best first baseman of all time. So yes, we'd love to have him back.

MAN, WE HAVE TO GET OUT THOSE ROSE COLORED GLASSES! Only then will all of you be able to see RED like Bulldog19 and myself! LOL! My beloved REDBIRDS have some holes to fill. I hope Kennedy at 2B will be one of them with the departure of Belliard. Sup on the move has hurt us. However, word in CARDINAL NATION is that Wainwright will now toe the rubber as a starter. Don't know if this is true or not. IMO, it is now up to what Walt J. can do for us. Juan E. and a player or TWO might get us another top of the line pitcher. That would make this coming year VERY INTERESTING. jmho!

BTW, in light of other conflicts in the Illinois Forum, this White Sox-Cubs banter is vanilla. GLOVE MAN, YOU SURE KNOW HOW TO STIR! His 'stros always seem to be in the thick of it. Now if they can build a major league ball park instead of that arena baseball. Big Grin

Hmmm....the white sox win a single championship in 2005 since when....and The Mets are an abberation?

Perhaps if the sox manage to win another one or two you can start calling them one of the best organizations.

Does a good organization draw nearly 3 million fans and then turn around and dump salary? Especially after saying all those years that if the fans show up, they would spend the money? I guess they did for a year, now back to being Reinscrooge.

Reinsdorf is a great owner for the sox, following the no-money Veeck years and of course the original cheapskate Charles Comiskey.
