What was going on with the Georgia Tech first basemen. Every pick-off attempt resulted in a collision with the runner. A fight almost broke out at the end.

I like the way it's starting out. First Georgia batter walked, stike 'em out, throw 'em out to second batter, then strike out third batter in top of first. That's the way to get started Owls!!

According to the announcers the Clemson players were coming back into first standing up and tight to the first baseman in an attempt to make something happen (if indeed it was intentional it worked - Luke Murton lost his glove in a collision and the ensuing wild throw really got things going for Clemson). I think Luke was getting pretty frustrated, between the problems he was having with the base runners and just watching the game slip away after Tech looked pretty dominant for 7 innings. (If you've ever stood next to Luke you'd have to agree that he's probably the last Tech player you'd want to get in a fight with.)

I thought that was strange. Brantley (the announcer) was saying the kids are taught to square up to the bag and stand up going back in to first to screw up the first baseman. Never heard of that. It's always: "A step and a dive!" or "Get dirty dammit!"

Had the same thing happen in tournament games a few years ago.

Our first baseman was TOLD that when they do that again, you SLAP TAG the runner in the head with the ball in the glove. Happened (we slap tagged another runner in the head with the ball in the glove) once and it (standing up going back into the bag) didn't happen again.

Going back to the first base bag trying to "make something happen" while standing up is "bush league baseball" to me.

Yea I thought that was pretty clever by the Clemson players....I had never seen that before.......you can tell they are fundamentally sound.

Wow, congrats to Prepster's son, Robert Woodard - a complete game shutout for the win in the CWS. It doesn't get much better than that!!!

Ok, who else thought Clemson was going to somehow pull it out last night? It seems like every game I've had a chance to watch (except for the OSU win last night) the team came from behind to win.

WOW! Talk about a nail biter. The game between CSUF and Clemson was something else. Clemson has a great team and is very balanced. Congratulations to TPM and the guys at Clemson for a great season. Regrettable I can't say I was rooting for them as my avatar indicates. I saw last night why they were considered the top seed. The pitcher that cam in relief did a tremendous job.
