Former Milligan head coach Danny Clark didn't stay out of baseball long. He's just been announced as pitching coach for the Rangers Single A club in Spokane. Knoxville's own Mark Connor is a pitching coach with the major league club and apparently had a hand in the decision.

Big congrats to Danny.

Bizazz,

Sounds like Milligan has a good baseball program.

I had an umpire friend recommend we talk to Danny Clark about my son (LHP in Milligan area) going to Milligan when he graduates. Sounds like it is too late now.

How's the new coach?

I when down last week, because I had the baseball fever, and watched Milligan beat VI.
Milligan had a good looking RHP who started.

Didn't know that the AD is the manager of ELizabethton Twins. That's interesting.

Your son go to Milligan?
Danny Clark did a great job at Milligan and the players all enjoyed playing for him.

Having said that, the new coach Bernie Young was a great choice for Danny's replacement. They are a bit different in demeanor, but Coach Young is very competitive and is expecting nothing but the best.

The righty you saw was junior Brett Seybert. He's got a lot of potential. Brett started out last year as one of the weekend starters but disappeared after a couple of bad outings early in the year. He resurfaced in the conference and regional tournaments last year where he pitched very well. He's got good velocity and will be tough as long as he keeps his control and mixes it up with some off-speed.

My son is a sophomore righthander. He was in the bullpen and was going to close the game had it stayed close in the 9th. Then, he was supposed to start game 2 last Saturday at Union KY. Mother Nature had other plans. I'd suspect he'll pitch Tuesday in Marietta vs. Southern Polytechnic. I can't make that trip, but I hope I'll get a chance to see him play this weekend. Milligan has 5 games scheduled Fri-Sun. Looking ahead at the weather, they may be lucky to play just Sunday.

Milligan is blessed to have a great baseball mind in Bernie Young as well as an assistant coach like Ray Smith. They are good people as well as good coaches.

I'll be more than happy to tell you what I can about Milligan and the baseball program. Send me a p.m. if you'd like.
