This was a Legion game which goes mainly by American League rules. As I understand the rule, if the DH goes in to play a position, it kills the DH, and the pitcher has to hit. But, what if the DH goes into the field, and the new pitcher was a position player?

Went like this... pitcher who was being DH'd for is removed. 1B becomes new pitcher, RF becomes the new 1B, and the DH goes to RF. A guy walks up and  tells me the RF is now an illegal player, that you can't do that and that he confirmed it with a coach, but they let it go?

I didn't see the issue. Pitcher is now hitting for himself. No DH. Can anyone clarify? Apparently the issue revolved around the position player becoming a pitcher along with the DH going into the field, which changed the nature of the rule as I understood it.

O.K. that's what I thought. So, no issue.

And the guy wasn't random. He's a fan and someone I know. He just walked up and started talking and then just casually pointed to the kid in RF and said he was playing illegally. When he explained why, I told him I thought it was o.k., but he was certain that it wasn't. So, I let it go.
