Div. I coaches can't have in-person face-to-face contact on or off their campus with a JUCO freshman who has not been certifed as a Div. I Qualifier by the NCAA Eligibility Center. They can still have phone or e-mail contact, however.
A great example of why any athlete hoping to compete at NCAA Div. I or II should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center no later than the end of their junior year of HS, even if they are planning to attend a JUCO first. Also, will allow them to know what transfer requirements they must satisfy in order to be immediately eligible when they transfer from the JUCO (and how long they need to attend the JUCO).
