Ask 3finger to be certain but if one enrolls part time for the first fall semester then when they are ready to transfer after 3 years at the school they've only got 5 full time semesters under their belt so they only have to have 40% of the classes in their major completed to be able to transfer and play baseball in the upcoming season.
It is fairly common for JC coaches to recommend that their players do not enroll full time in their first fall semester. This doesn't prevent players from being eligible in the spring. They are also eligible to participate in the fall without being enrolled full time.
There are some new rules with respect to greyshirting so I'd be careful to research that. I think there's a thread in here somewhere about it that 3finger may have contributed to.

Thanks BOF and CADad. Dumb follow up question... what exactly is "qualified out of high school"?
No question is dumb here...
It means you have registered with the NCAA and have been cleared by them that you have completed all of the classes required to attend and play for a NCAA Div 1 school.
(there is probably some technically more correct answer but this should get the point across)
