Roy Hobbs where have you been? Doesn't the season results so far confirm that the pre season rankings have little or no value. Now that the season is 1/3 of the way completed it seems that some of the teams with all the hype have not quite lived up to it. It will be nice to compare the preseason rankings to the end of the season rankings to see who really deserved all the hype.

Your right on with the rankings being all hype. There is a ton of great baseball being played in the state of Illinois. To get a true ranking you would have to get a group of coaches and media throughout the state to rank teams. There is no way any one person or media outlet can see enough games to give a true ranking. Plus in a one and done tourney the best team in the state does not always finish on top.
Rankings, shankings, blankings, who cares? At the end of the season only 1 team in each class is left standing. THAT is what matters. I just have to laugh at anyone concerned with rankings.
Yes, recognition is nice but you're still charged for coffee at McDonald's.
At the end of the day, you still have to play the game regardless of rank.
