Is it a common occurence for a school to back out of a verbal commitment to a player? I wouldn't think so but I'm hearing more and more of it

Is it common, not that I am aware but it happens.
Let us know what programs in fact are doing this, or is it just something you are hearing about?
I have heard of it second hand and would rather not specifically mention the schools, just big universities with big programs. My son is comitted to a big U and am a little nervous it could happen to him
Better they should not honor the verbal and let the player seek other options before the NLI rather than have him almost ready to come to school and he's asked not to come (yes that happens).
Unless you or son had serious doubts when he got the commitment, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
