Does Anyone Remember Green Stamps?

In the 1960's, I wanted a Catcher's Mitt in the worse way. One summer day, my Mom and I took a ride downtown to the Wieboldts Department store to the Green Stamp Redemption Center. Where Mom turned in many books of Green Stamps that she had saved and in return I received my very own Del Crandall autographed Catcher's Mitt. I was amazed that I could own such valuable mitt and could not believe that my Mom would use her hard earned Green Stamps on me.

Anyone else have a story connected to their favorite mitt?
