Advice to you. Go out to dinner have a drink and relax.

Thinking back 4 years ago my 20 year old son was at a street fair with his college wood bat team handing out schedules etc. when he started getting texts congratulating him and he couldn't figure out why.  He finally got a call from an old coach who let him know he had been selected in the 38th round.  A few minutes later he got a call from the team.  Truly the best day of his life to this point, but his friends saw it first on ESPN.

I know people drafted in the late thirties who weren't contacted for days. 

There are way more than 5 draft eligible players per D1 school, all the juniors and seniors are eligible as well as any underclassmen over I think 21 years old.  I would say 10 to 15 per school, probably more.  At my son's old school there are at least 16 eligible.

so 2000 players vs 1200 drafted 

800 not. It makes 5 draft eligible to 3 drafted (average)

 

Players are drafted from high school, JuCo, D2, D3 and D1. One college team may have ten players drafted. Another may have none. The best way to know your odds is what your advisor/agent tells you. Your coach usually has somewhat of a guess based on conversations he’s had with scouts. 

Advisors are free. They’re betting on becoming the player’s agent after the draft. If a kid player has college eligibility left and has no idea on his draft prospects he should probably stay in school.
