From a weather perspective, what is the earliest (on the average--year after year) that your high school team can start practicing outdoors on your home-field? Please include your city, state and the date they start practicing.

Also, when do they and are they, allowed to start practicing.

In Kentucky we officially start practice on Feb. 15th and first game is March 24th. We have to play on a community park that isn't taken care of that well. Because of that we usually get on the field about a week before we open up.

If the weather is good then we get on there earlier but if the weather is bad then our first game might be the first time we step on the field.

To offset that we take yellow dimple BP machine balls and practice in the parking lot. We have an indoor place with two cages and two mounds so that helps a bunch.
The first day for practice in Washington State is Feb 25th. Kids are required to have a min. of 10 practices before they can play. First game for my son's former HS is March 11th. The regular season can be a max. of 20 games. Many of the schools is this area have preseason jamboree with 3 schools playing 2 3 inning games.

Tantrough gave you the official GA start time for HS: Feb 4 for team practices.

That said, the wheather has been so mild our summer travel team has been practicing on the field for pretty much the entire winter. Yesterday it actually snowed for the first time, but it has already melted. Looks like we'll be able to get back on the field this weekend.
