PG will refer you to a number of hotels that offer PG-negotiated discounts.

We have stayed several times at the Crowne Plaza Permiter. Very nice, but 25 minutes from the East Cobb complex on a good day, possible trouble if you have to travel during rush hour. Also a big hotel, pretty crowded.

We're taking a team and I am looking at a cul-de-sac of hotels just around the corner from the fields complex, in Woodstock. There is a Comfort Inn, a Hampton Inn and two cheapy extended-stay hotels. The first two are pretty much the same as any others you'll find anywhere. The extended stays are certainly not posh, but they were good enough for me! And at $175/week, a lot easier on the wallet.
Last summer stayed at the Hawthorne Suites, I believe on Windy Hill Road. It was a host hotel and had $1 beer and wine every night for a couple hours, along with a featured appetizer/meal like taco night, salad night etc. The rooms were very neat and clean. COntinental breakfast was fabulous and the fields were all about 15-20 minutes away. They have a swimming pool, hot tub, washing machines on property as well as a work out room. It was about $75 a night I think. I HIGHLY recommend it!

FYI, they play all over the area, only a small percentage of the games are played at the EC fields. Last year our team participated in both the 17U and 18U and in each tournament they played just 1 game at EC.
Our team stayed off Delk Rd. in the Drury Inn Suites for the last 2 summers. Nice rooms, clean, about $120/night, free cocktail hour, ok free breakfast. It generally took us 15-20 minutes to get to most fields. East Cobb complex same time, even in rush hour traffic. Have rec. this hotel to friends. We enjoyed the food at the Marietta Diner all hours of the day and night. The Holiday Inn is not recommended at all!!!!
I live in/near the East Cobb complex. I would not reccommend the In Town Suites in Woodstock...might be a little rough...the others in Woodstock should be ok. The Kennesaw/Chastain area is also a nice area and very accessible to the fields. Anything closer in to Atlanta, Windy Hill, the Perimeter....you risk sitting in traffic getting to the fields.

Hope this information helps and if anyone wants more discussion, feel free to pm me.
Stayed at the Hawthorne Suites on Windy Hill this past June. The place was great. We stayed in suites that were as big as apartments. They had a nice pool area, tennis courts and other places for the kids to hang out. We were about 10-15 minutes down Rt. 75. Heavier traffic was usually going the other direction. Nice area with stores and resturants nearby. Highly recommended.
Stayed at the Intown Suites.

I felt it was safe -- it's right next to a Comfort Inn & Suites, for Pete's sake, and right off Woodstock Road, which has all sorts of restaurants to choose from.

There's a $50 deposit that you get back. Other than that it was $200/week for the room. I think their office is closed on Sundays so you have to work around that. But we arrived on Monday, played Tuesday morning through Sat. night, and left Sunday after sleeping in.

It certainly wasn't posh, but it had a bed, a bathroom, a mini-kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, cable TV, wireless internet access and on site laundry facilities. Everything coaches and players would want, at an average of around $30/night (depending on whether you need 6 or 7 nights). I don't know how you'd beat that, and it is definitely the closest to the East Cobb complex. About the only things they didn't have were a pool or the free breakfast thing.

The only problems we had were (a) as it turned out, only 2 of our games were at East Cobb or Kell, so we still had to drive a ways to 4 of our 6 games, and (b) In Town suddenly decided it wanted payment in advance and would not take a credit card over the phone, so be aware of this and fax the forms to them before you leave home.

We also stayed at the Hawthorne Suites on Windy Hill. Beautiful grounds with tennis courts, basketball, nice sized pool and rooms that were second to none in both size and value. Full hot breakfast each morning plus Monday-Thursday there is a manager reception that features enough food to qualify as a meal. Never had to travel more than 20 minutes to a field and we only played 1 game at East Cobb Complex which was 15 minutes away. As well as for the parents and families I would highly recommend the team stay there. Most East Cobb tourneys run a full week and having the extra room for the players (the rooms ARE the size of apartments) made for a pleasant stay for them as well. Plus the saving of food costs with the full breakfast and mgr. reception 4 days and having stoves and refrigerators (our kids figured out right away it was cheaper and easier to go to a store and load up on frozen pizzas, gatorade, water and snacks than eat out)made it actually cheaper overall than staying at abudget hotel. There are also many gas grills on site for guest use ( we had a 4th of July picnic for the team and all family members and friends that made the trip for probably a tenth of the cost of going to a burger joint)
Hawthorne suites was still a very nice place to stay. We stayed there the past 2 years and are going back this summer.
Again, it is more like renting an apartment for a week than a hotel room. It is situated like a condo or apartment complex with 3 level buildings surrounding the complex and a central main building where the pool is located and meals are served. They also have a laundry room with about 8-10 washers and dryers.
It is a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay for a week.
I think it books quickly with repeat customers so don't wait too long.
Just south on 575 which is the main artery to the EC fields is Chastain Rd. and Barrett Pkwy before that. Each exit has hotels with Barrett having more. If you go south on 575 to Chastain, take a right off the ramp, travel about 3 miles (cross over 75) and you will see a nice hotel about 1 mile on the left.
WTP09,

Three of my favorites. Somewhat of an expert in this stuff. Smile

Marietta Diner (Highway 41, ask for directions)
Very big menu, lots of food, good, not too expensive)

OK Cafe (couple exits south)
Very good (things like pot roast, roast turkey, meat loaf, etc. on menu) not too expensive.

Good buffet on Canton, I think it's called John Boy's or something like that. Not expensive, all you can eat, lots of choices, good fried chicken.

There are actually many other good places.
The confusion is understandable, but those tournaments in July are not East Cobb tournaments. They are the summer PG WWBA Championships played all over that area including East Cobb.

Depending on which age division, the scouting/recruiter turnout is extremely large. Especially the 17U and 18U divisions each had over 600 Scout Packets sold. And many scouts don't purchase the scout packets. (you have to be a scout or college recruiter to get one)

The PG WWBA Championship held each October in Jupiter Florida are often referred to as simply "Jupiter"! This can confuse some people because Jupiter holds many events during the year, but none with anywhere near the same turnout in scouts and college coaches or caliber of players.
Just North of Barrett Pkwy on Cobb Pkwy there is an IHOP. Behind the IHOP is a place called the Whistle Stop Cafe. Home cooking and good prices.
There is also a pizza place in that plaza with an all you can eat pizza deal for lunch. A little out of the way but great if you are coming back toward Marietta from the Kennesaw fields
Studio Plus, Kennesaw overbooked and dropped me on the day of arrival. I got a phone call on my cell when I was driving between Charlotte and Atlanta on Monday 7/5(the holiday) that after 8 weeks of confirmation e-mails from them, they didn't have room for me. Beware if you book there, they admitted that they overbooked 3 rooms for July 12-19.
