It's tough to pick a single favorite this year.
I predict a winner who is highly-regarded but not at the top of the polls.

Not that I've been around the state tournament that long, but long enough to see many ranked teams one and done. With the rankings being such a joke (because HS baseball recieves so little attention and dissection), I'd have to agree with FB that the state champion is probably seeded a bit lower than 2 in their sectionals. It all comes down to the string, and how good your #1 and #2 can control the game, not the body of work of the team.
Oh, btw, did I mention that my pick Lake Zurich, is a #3 seed?

And being in that Sectional helps!
In some Sectionals there are more than a couple of teams who can beat anyone on a given day. In that Sectional there aren't many teams who can compete with them. I'm pulling for the field!

Look downstate...there's some good teams that way.
New Trier has got to be the favorite. With a 23-1-1 record and the ability to seemingly hold every team they play to 2 runs or less they look dominant. It is interesting though to note that Notre Dame who is the only team that beat them is in their regional. Of course while New Trier beats on some city school in the first regional game, Notre Dame will acatully have to play real game in the 8 vs 9 game.
