IMO first impressions formed about baseball players are off base more than in any other major sport. There are thousands of productive players that have something quirky about their appearance or the way they play the game. But they get the job done. Hunter Pence would be your poster child. Those players have to overcome the stigma of a bad first impression in order to keep playing.  It’s easier to do now that it was in the past but some never overcome it.
