Scrimmaging outside in Somersworth NH on March 27. I love this global warming thing. We scrimmaged Newmarket today it was 31 degrees out, but it felt like 71 because we were so glad to be outside playing the best sport ever invented. I hate practicing in the gym.
Somersworth looked like we were in mid-season form. Hot bats made it seem warmer out than it really was. We scored 9 runs on 8 hits and 4 of them were doubles in only six innings. Gave up only two runs, on just one error, both were unearned.
Scouts write this name down. Josh Jaques, sophomore 2012 lefty pitcher, has really improved mostly with his command, and has added a nice change to go with his high 70’s velocity and good movement. He should put up great numbers in class M.
To Newmarkets defense it was their first time outside, their field is still under water, their bats will come around. They are returning 7 players on a team that made it to the championship game last year. They’ve lost their ace, Mike something I can’t remember his name but he was very good. Dave Adam is an excellent pitching coach so I’m sure he’ll find or create a replacement.
