BTW, did not get around to putting up how I became a cubs fan. Grew up in Detroit in the 80s. Was a tiger fan growing up but when cable tv came around I was enthralled with watching the cubs play at wrigley. Something about the stadium in the middle of the neighborhood with no lights drew me in. Fast forward to the mid 90s after college, I moved to Chicago for my job. First week here I was handed a set of cubs tickets. Headed down to the stadium and fell in love with the whole ambiance of the cubs and wrigley field. I now say the Tigers are my AL team but the Cubs are my team. If the Cubs are playing Detroit I will root for the Cubs every time.
Similar story - about 10 years ago a guy I played college with went to Chicago to watch two games at Wrigley and one at White Sox. The Cubs got beat in both games to the Diamondbacks and the Sox beat the Tigers in a close game. The ambiance of Wrigley is so much better than anywhere else. The Sox had music playing the whole time and the PA guy kept saying "lets get fired up" and stuff like that. Loved the game at Tigers but couldn't enjoy it due to all the extra stuff. Wrigley it was about the game and much enjoyable.
I can only imagine the atmosphere last night and what it's going to be in the NLCS.
