Football takes the $

My guess is a good football helmet costs about two dozen game baseballs and a headache for the baseball coach.

A football helmet will cost from $150 to $175 depending on the deal you can get from the sporting gooods rep or the manufacturer. Most of that cost is in liability insurance for the manufacturer.

In our school, football is a money maker. We draw around 3000 - 4000 fans a game @ around $5 a pop.

We have alumni that pitch in extra money when needed.

We can afford plenty of helmets and even have enough left over for baseballs.

Football revenue frequently pays for almost all sports at alot of hs and college. Don't be too hard on 'em.

Football brings in the money so I dont have a problem with them getting the majority of it. If I waited on the School system to make sure that we had everything we needed I would be waiting a long time. We do it ourself and anything we get from them is gravy.

In our school, each sport is totally independent, and there is no sharing or pooling of funds.

The only exception is that the Band Programs across the city have the football food and parking concessions (we have one municipal football field, each school does not have their own field) and band parents can work any football game, any time, and get a credit. These are recorded. At the end of the season, the profit is figured, and each band program gets a check based on credits worked by their parents.

Coach May, well said, same goes at my boys school. Kunga, that reeks. Food has a huge profit margin and the band deal is ripping you guys off. I don't think the band is going to get 1000 people to come out and see them every Friday. Question: How many schools in your city? Do you have your own baseball field or is that municipal for all school also?

No, each high school has it's own baseball field. We do our own gate, and our own concessions.

There are 5 high schools in the city, (about to be 6, but #6 won't have sports for 3 years)
