Coach B25 brings up a very good point...our Head Cook and Bottlewasher. Bob has been wonderful for so many on this site. I think it would be great if Julie could get him to check in once in a while to let us all know how he's doing.
There are a whole bunch of us who owe both Bob and Julie a big debt of gratitude.
I got to meet Bob on my trip to the Battle in the South in TN. My life is complete now.
GotWood,
Ummmm, I think that YOU are the one who is supposed to "Please explain" if you select "Other". But I'll try. In this case, "Other" goes with "Has goofily entertained hundreds of members who he has never met, as well as quite a few who he has crossed paths with only in outrageous circumstances in stories which may or may not be true. Okay, they're not true, but they should be."
Does that about cover it?
Others,
I know, I miss our Head Cook and Bottlewasher, too! One time I was mystified that Bob had not returned my e-mails for a few months (was growing concerned that I had done something to tick him off) only to find that he had spent those months overseas for work, without convenient internet access. He seems to still be very busy, but I hope he will check in with us from time to time.

Count me as somebody who has had not one but TWO "close calls" in crossing paths with Woodrow. One of these days we'll get it straight.
Woody is my hero
We actually did cross paths once but we didn't know each other then. No one has quite the sense of humor he does but if you notice, he also is a very kind-hearted individual.

How could you cross paths with The Woodmeister and NOT know it? As much as he rambles on around here, I think he'd stick out like a sore thumb at a tourney/showcase.
Thanks guys and mom...those comments perked me up...I needed that!
.
Really glad to see the Woodman gathering some well deserved "Dew"...
Don't forget the Woodwoman....

Havent yet crossed paths with the woodman, but did have an almost game-long conversatiion with "woodwoman" last October when she visited my beautiful Twin Cities, Bloomington-Normal, IL for a wood bat tourney. If I remember correctly, the woodman was a little bit east of here in Indianapolis watching their girls in a softball tourney. The sacrifices he makes sometimes!
I met the Woodman on a gorgeous night in Crystal Lake, he is as witty and nice as he is on here! We chatted all game long and I wish now I would have extended a dinner invitation!
Thanks again for the kind comments.
And catchersdad...that was a nice evening...it was enjoyable talking to someone from the beautiful Pacific Northwest. For those of you who have not met catchersdad he too is as witty, intelligent, and friendly as he is on here...he's just not a chatterbox like me! Let's try dinner another time.

Woodman, Never met catchersdad.
Met his son, while coaching LL at a tournament in the Summer
in DesMoines as 10 yr. old's.
AB showed sign's of being a very talented ball player, even then as a 10 yr old.
Woodman, Are you at all related to the HSBBW poster.
Smokey, I notice he live's close to you?? EH

Catchersdad not chatty? LOL I like catchersdad because he doesn't look through those rose colored glasses and gives good advice to this pitcher's mom!
EH:
AB showed even more of that talent against my son's team in the opening game of the CABA 15U World Series in Crystal Lake.
I'm only related to Smokey through our mutual interest in baseball and we both reside in Cook Co.,IL. From his posts I'm sure I would enjoy meeting him...like you EH, he's got a great sense of humor!
TPM:
I should have clarified that chatty comment. By the number of posts, in a short period of time, I would be considered a chatterbox as compared to catchersdad.
He is a very intelligent guy and I'm glad he doesn't wear those rose-colored glasses when dispensing advice to you. In that regard he really is a good and valuable friend to you!

Yeah, but he kicked a certain Bear's a$$ (or was it the other way around? ).
Ahh yes, JBB - I haven't been around here much lately, but can't let that one go.... how is that football season going so far? Seriously, I hear the new stadium is awesome. Too bad we have to wait a year before we see it...
Geez, I thought I had successfully slipped that one by you.
Speaking of friendships and "close calls", I just wanted to thank somebody for my "Hi Beezer" phone call Sunday.
I didn't get to talk to them because I was in mass when the call came and then had a hectic afternoon. But THANKS!

Beezer - it was me who called, but then I realized what a religious sort you were and hung up
CD - Yeah, that's me all right!
Speaking of calls, I placed one to our buddy IB to make sure he was alive and well. Apparently he is, just been busy.
