This must stop, MLB should use a ZERO tolerance policy, period.
If they get caught, all contracts are revoked and they can go play in Japan or someplace.
Peer pressure at it's worst.
I Cannot think of anything worse than someone standing in a locker room with a needle hanging off of their butt. It's a disgrace to the game.

If MLB was really serious about this they would have stopped it at McGwire, he was the first on with a lot of success even though he exhibited all the signs, i.e., huge growth spurt, acne, inability to recover from injury, etc. But the Lords of Baseball knew it was go for the almighty dollar and they looked the other way.The union leadership and the activist ballplayers (notably that moron Glavine) who have no idea how good they have it and that they are doing the best they can to kill the goose that laid the multi-year, multi-million dollar contract. They hide behind "their right to privacy"...please give me a break. While we're at it, cheating, check out all the latin players who have lied about their ages as well.

denisr400,
Not sure why you felt the need to say that about me. Maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or maybe you were trying to be cute. Either way you don't know me or anything about me so your comments were really uncalled for and unnecessary. There's nothing wrong with voicing your opinion but I'd appreciate it if you kept your opinions on topic and left me out of your complaints with this country.
Thanks!

bbscout said it best...
I do think this gives baseball a black eye but baseball is bigger than any individual. The players in question are hurting themselves and their families more than they are the game. The game will move on.

Sorry about that FlippJ. Not meant to be negative towards you personally - I just have a hard time with the Bonds supporters. We'll find out the truth eventually, hopefully before some sacred records are broken.
I'm guessing we'll never see asterisks next to any of the records set during the "juice era" since mlb and union chose to make usage ok. I just think it skews all records from the past and that's unfortunate.
I also have a tremendous dislike for Bonds as a person. I know some media folks who have been around this guy and the way he treats people is beyond belief. I have zero use for any person that treats others in that manner.
Sorry if I sounded like I was going after you, I just don't see why anyone still supports this guy and what he's all about.

denisr400...This is not meant to be negative towards you. However, unfortunately or maybe fortunately none of us can control the likes and dislikes of another person. People who still support Bonds have their reasons just like you have your reasons for not liking him, and I will fight to the bitter end for you to continue to have that right. I don't have a hard time with Bond detractors. It is their right.
You're right Catfish.
denisr400,
I am, and have been, a fan of Barry Bonds the baseball player. By all indications Bonds is a jerk. I simply don't care about that because my son doesn't look at him as a role model and I don't want to be his friend. We just appreciate him as a baseball player.
All signs point to him taking steroids and if the reports are true I will lose all respect for the man as a ball player. It really is sad.
I appreciate the apology!

MLB need to go to Zero Tolerance, period. They should learn from FIFA "S****r world". FIFA doesn't care who is the player or how big his name may be, if he tested positive, he is gone, it has to be that way, otherwise the game can be ruined. Remember what happened to Diego Maradona, at that time the best s****r player in the entire world. He got banned from the game for ilegal drugs used.
Pete Rose was banned from the game, and he didn't do any drugs!!!

I'd like to take this thread and apply it to the reason we're all here ... HS Baseball and kids ... I really hope that MLB finally takes this as a wakeup call to institute rigorous random drug testing because of our kids. I'm assuming that you can already find some limited use of 'roids at the HS level ... if MLB looks the other way on this issue, yet again, it simply sends a message to the kids: it's already incredibly long odds for a kid to realize their dream of playing in the bigs ... besides the role model issue, soft treatment by MLB on this issue just tells the kids the odds are even longer than you think. You not only have to compete against a huge number of gifted atheletes from all over the world to make it, you have to compete against those that are 'juiced' too.
We can spend time debating validity of records, etc., but at the end of the day, our own first hand experience with baseball is through our kids. If MLB panders and placates on this issue, the kids figure out on their own that use of 'roids is a real physical advantange that MLB is unwilling to regulate. As a parent, I'd never allow my son to use steroids ... but "responsible adults" come in all shapes and sizes ... there's some % out there that would, and there'd certainly be kids out there that would/could use steriods without an adult's knowledge or approval.
Johnny's got huge biceps ... but he's just been working out really hard! Or is he getting a little 'boost' to compete for that spot in the starting lineup?
