Sad day for all of us that enjoyed the days of Gomer Pyle, Andy Griffith, Mayberry RFD, and Hee Haw. One of the good ones, George Lindsey aka Goober died early today. He was 83.

He replaced Gomer very seamessly after Gomer went into the Marines.

Here's a tidbit of information about him you may not know. He played QB in college. Was in the Air Force for 3 years and....wait for it....was a high School baseball coach for a year!

I loved all of those shows too papi. And I miss this guy...

From the article...
Since his TV show was seldom rerun and is not syndicated, it is easy to forget his popularity. Based on longevity and audience size, The Red Skelton Show was the second most popular show in TV history. Gunsmoke is first.

I miss him. I'd sure like to see reruns of his shows.
