Just to reiterate.... Beavan threw a one-hit shutout, while striking out 15 in his start.

And many congratulations to the 20-mph wind blowing straight out to a 340 ft centerfield fence!

Did the wind stop blowing when Irving was batting?

Cedar Hill had their ACE going, Brown, who entered the game 8-3 with an ERA in the 1.00s, 100 strikeouts. He gave up EIGHT RUNS, so I'd say he got pretty ruffed up and certainly effected by the wind too.

Congrats to Cedar Hill for out COACHING Irving. They set their pitching rotation perfectly. They threw their #3 against Beavan, almost in concession (ironically the #3 threw his best game of the year) and saved their ace for Game 3.

Very smart, and showed how import Game 1 of the series was. It forced BB to go 2, allowing for the ace vs #3 match-up in Game 3.

From what I have seen and heard the coach should have won the toss and played one game....did they not use the Irving coach's coin?

Now....The easiest thing to do is beat up a coach! As a pure observer, if you look at the season as a whole, Irving likely did not have the depth at pitching to run very deep unless they played in only a one game format through out. Although the talent is not quite the same the situation is similar to Smithson Valley, two years ago lived on the one game format until they got to the State Finals and lost beacause their ace was used up. So...... unless the "coin Gods" favor you..... From what I witnessed through out the season, the coach of Irving did enough right things to get the Tigers to the playoffs. Hats off the kids and good luck to BB.

PD- Offseason most definately is boring... but luckily it's giving me time to do things I missed out on during the year. Hitting lessons, working out (which we don't do enough during the season at Jesuit), and more importantly.... arm rest. Not to mention, it makes me just get even hungrier for summer ball. Hope PDson is doing well and is healthy.
