One of co-workers heard a show on the radio yesterday and came to speak to me about it.  It was apparently about TJ surgeries.  The guy said a lot of stuff I had already heard and then he said "So, do you feed your son those foods to avoid the surgery?".....um....WHAT?  English is not his first language and baseball is not his thing so getting any more information out of him was a no-go.

While I am SURE there is no food that someone could eat to AVOID the surgery is there any food that is being described to help strengthen your arm muscles/tendons/ligaments or perhaps make them a bit more elasticy? I haven't heard of this.

Foods won't make you more elastic, they will help you recover from workouts, help with strength and flexibility,  and be the best that you are genetically. Once a muscle has reached its absolute maximum length (muscles stretch), Attempting to stretch the muscle further only serves to stretch the ligaments and put undue stress upon the tendons (two things that you do not want to stretch). Ligaments will tear when stretched more than 6% of their normal length. Tendons are not even supposed to be able to lengthen. Even when stretched ligaments and tendons do not tear, loose joints and/or a decrease in the joint's stability can occur (thus vastly increasing your risk of injury).  Collagen is important connective tissue repair / general health.  Complete amino acid supplements are a good overall supplement for any sport.

2forU, you said there are no foods that make you more elastic....but there are foods that help with flexibility?  Please explain, I know nothing about this area.
