The greatest sporting event in the world starts tomorrow night.

With my team out...I am very excited to watch the Rangers take on the Cardinals and hope for seven hotly-contested games.

The first thing that comes to my mind is two different types of players that show up to the post season.

On one hand, I am happy to see superstars like Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols play in the World Series. These two players were made for this stage.

On the other hand are lesser known names who rise to the top and play like they've never played before (or at least like most people haven't had the pleasure to watch). David Freese, Nelson Cruz, John Jay, etc.

It will be an absolute delight to watch all of these guys slug it out starting Wednesday in St. Louis.

I will take the Cardinals.
1)Rangers are a team built around the DH and will lose that for a majority of the series.
2) Rangers ace CJ Wilson has posted one of the top 5 all time high ERA's in the post season.
3) Cardinals are playing with house money and have nothing to lose. A month ago nobody expected them to be where they are.
I am not going to make predictions, as it's pretty obvious whose side I am rooting for. Wink Whatever will be will be.

My opinion is that it's going to come down to how the Ranger's pitchers perform at their at bats and how the DH (whoever it will be) for STL will perform.

Either way, both teams IMO are pretty well matched, so should see 7 games in this WS.
Great game! Cards win! Really, some good basebll in this game. Although starting pitching was sharp,it was good. Carp did what he had to do. He battled! Clutch hits for the Cardinals. Craig's hit was key and that guy can flat out hit. How about the two plays Pujols to Carpenter?

At least one commentator will have to rethink his predictions after saying, "if the Cardinals are lucky, this will go four games." That basically after asserting that the Cardinals have had a good year and have "snuck" into the playoffs and World Series.

Yes Coach, Allen can flat out hit. We're proud of him here in his home town of Temecula, CA. clapping

He's the man, it was HIS game, JMO.
Great series so far. Every pitch, every manager move has had a purpose as each team is scratching and clawing to try to get the "W". I can't help to notice that both Napoli and Molina are excellent catchers that do everything so well. As an impartial observer, I give this World Series a big thumbs up so far for entertainment.
Great game last night, really, when you see baseball played like that you have to root for both teams. Great managing as well. Craig is awesome.

I really like those Rangers up the middle team, really impressive. I don't get to see them play that often unless it's against those 2 other large market eastern teams.

Best part for me is two teams respresenting the heart of america (central), both states hit with disasters this year, this is what it's all about.
After watching the Tigers/Rangers series (with the exception of Game 6), I thought the World Series would be a bit of a letdown - boy, was I wrong!!

Hopefully the rest of the Series will be as entertaining and dramatic as these first 2 games - this is what playoff baseball is all about!

+1 on Andrus' baserunning

Disappointed Pujols did not stick around to talk to the media after his misplay on the cutoff...
What a great G2! Tons of fundamentals affected the outcome in the last inning.

Pujols...move your feet on that cutoff play. You HAVE to read that it is dying! Keep Elvis at 1B.

What a bad decision by LaRussa to pitch to Josh Hamilton with runners on 2nd and 3rd, IMO. Why not walk Hamilton to load the bases and set up the double play? I would never throw to the Rangers' best hitter in that situation. He will beat you most of the time. Instead, you bring in Rhodes to hang a CB to him?!? I agree with LaRussa 99% of the time but I think he made a mistake.

Punto...get the bunt down. I don't care if he is throwing 120mph. Get it down.

I thought it was a good decision to pitch to Hamilton. HOWEVER, with the state of his groin, I would have continued to throw down and in to him.

My son and I were talking as it was developing. Hamilton just can't get a hit this series with the injury. BUT, can he get a pitch to get a Sac Fly?

So I see it as more of a bad pitch than the wrong pitcher.

If you stay in that situation, you need a K. Rhodes will not get you that K. Maybe I am just not a Rhodes fan.

My wife was really questioning the ninth inning pitcher selection. We needed strikeouts. Dotel has been getting strikeouts and Rhodes and Lynn have been more pitch to contact lately. Should have brought in Dotel, after walking the lefty Hamilton.

They did show that although Albert likely saw the 3rd base coach throw up the stop sign, the runner rounded the bag a LONG way. That could have led to some confusion as to whether to cut it off or let it go through..

Can't disagree here! Get the bunt down!
