Over the past few years I have noticed more and more tournaments being hosted at Division I and II schools around the midwest. Many tourneys at Big 12, Conference USA, Missouri Valley and MIAA Conference Schools. More and more "High Profile" teams are competing at these tourneys.

My question is......What has brought this on? It is due to limited college recruiting budgets? Have many people had much success with this format. Has it caused an increase in recruiting activity for anyone? Other than getting someone on the radar screen early, does it benefit a 16 year old over other venues? (Due to NCAA recruiting rules) Any input or experiences would be appreciated.

These tournaments have come about due to teams looking to get their players exposure. They want to be seen by the college coaches and the coaches love to show off their park. Yes, they do have limited recruiting budgets and these tournaments can be a money maker for the school and it's program.

The high profile teams are attending these tournaments and getting their players on coaches radar and getting them recruited. So that should answer your question of, "Has it caused an increase in recruiting activity for anyone?" Your basic legion program, in some areas, just isn't providing a good product and players are looking to travel teams to fill that void.
