Does anybody have any good ideas for fundraising at the high school level? We are sick of selling raffle tix, nuts, Xmas stuff, discount cards, etc. to our neighbors and friends. Also, auctions and dinners don't work in our area due to the huge number of folks doing the same thing. It ends up with our own parents buying all the junk. I'd really like to hear some unusual, but highly likely, success stories. Hey, Booster Club financial geniuses--I'm listening.

We did a poster sized schedule with ads on the border, 100-150 an add, school did the graphics as a project, printer donated print services. The 100 posters went up in all sorts of public areas. Pure profit, kids found the businesses. Had to be careful not to use businesses that sold booze. Just used the business cards as ad content.

We do a baseball clinic put on by our coach for kids 5-14. This is our 4th year and we average $6,000 per year after expenses.

That money supplements coaches income around here. Football, baseball, basketball, spotted kickball. All these coaches (boys & girls teams) have summer camps and revenue is split between coaching staff.

Your coach is generous with his time.

I agree, on the other hand, if he wants us to raise money for the program, he shouldn't be putting the money in his pocket.

At least until we get the facilities to where he wants them to be.

I and the other booster club memebers spend as much time organizing and running the clinic as the coaches do.

Play every game as if it were your last
The Baseball Coaches main fundraiser is a fruit sale(oranges & grapefruit) players take the orders and collect the money, coach orders the product, players pickup & deliver on one specified day. No hassle for the coach & prizes like a steak dinner, game hats, t-shirts for top sellers regardless of age. Quick and no hassle for the coach & staff.
Footballs main seller is a "coupon card", area bussinesses donate (pizza-buy 1 get 1, 10 % off, free burrito with purchase type thing) and the card is good for one year. What's really nice is that you can use it over & over at each place, we use the pizza deal at least once a month(I love pizza) Cool It's a $10.00 card and I believe it's a 50% profit. We usually buy 2 or 3 to make sure we've got one in each vehicle' just in case. Smile

A big fundraiser at our HS is car washes. The kids (read: parents) pre-sell tickets but also get a lot of drive-by business, meaning that we're not dipping entirely from the usual well.

And this year--don't laugh, a buck is a buck--we're having a benefit fashion show. One of the moms is a designer and is putting on the show, managing it all herself, getting the models, etc. Ticket sales proceeds go to the baseball program. Again, it's targeting a group that doesn't usually get hit up for baseball donations.

In our state we cannot do this. The high school athletic association has a rule against it. If it was bought by the school. If bought by the boosters it may be different. Not sure. But, I'd be sure to ask your SHSAA first. The AD should know already.
