Wednesday, April 2:

Prairie Ridge 7, Rolling Meadows 4
P Donny Baran gave up the first run for the Wolves in the first inning, along with 3 other runs. He pitched 3 innings. Sophomore P Ross Vance also pitched 3 innings, giving up no runs on just one hit. He got his first varsity win. Nolan Jacoby went 1-3 with 2 go-ahead RBI's in the sixth. Mike Heesch got the save. The Wolves have the Schaumburg Flyers Classic starting tomorrow.
It is pouring down here. Has been all day. Flood warnings are going up on the Missouri side and just south of us. Rain until tomorrow morning. Sat - Mon. no rain. Tuesday it begins again. Heck, for some schools their outfield is like a lake. Even with a day of no rain, they might have an easier time getting the infield ready than these saturated outfields.
Biggerpapi, thanks.
RRF8 - not sure why you felt necessary to downgrade a team. This thread is for reporting scores, good, bad, or ugly. Regardless of the score or quality of a team what's the purpose of calling a team weak? Whether they win or lose, give all kids the credit they deserve and let them have fun playing the game. Highland Park will win their share of games and lose them as well, regardless of the level of competition. We're just happy to finally play a game anywhere. Our field is still unplayable. We had a game rescheduled for today but, thanks to the rain last night, most likely won't be able to play it.

This may be for a different thread but (being new to HS baseball) I'm amazed at the different field sizes.

Our field is 328 in the corners, 366 in the gaps and 378 to center.

We've seen as short as 305 in the left field corner. Guess you have to make due with the land you have.

Willowbrook is 350 down the lines 375 in the gaps and 410 straight away center, bigger than most major league parks
Whitney Young (7-3) takes two varsity games at Barrington High School.

By any chance do you know who pitched for Barrington in game one?

Was the second game a JV?

Thanks!

Barrington High School has hosted Whitney Young for several years at their well maintained fields which have a large seating area, public address announcer with music and concessions. Both of the games reported were varsity games.

This was the first time in the series that Young has come away with a victory at the varsity level. In 2006 the Junior Varsity team split the double header and got a win in one of their two games. In 2007 only a single game was played by the Varisty and Junior Varsity and Barrington was the victor in both.

Pitching for Barrington in Game 1 was #25 for 7-2/3 innings and then #5 for the final out.

The Young and Barrington Junior Varsity teams also played a Doubleheader on the JV field at Barrington High School.

I hear the dimension of HP field are now short because they put a LaCross field in. Is that true?

BBdad1954:
Sad, but true. However, it is a PRACTICE field, not a game field despite all the room behind the football field. Our new AD just does not have a clue! According to her "Our field is now in line with most high schools!" It's a **** shame. We went from 335 in left, 385 in CF, 315 to RF down to 305 along each line and 350 to CF. Worse yet, the left field fence goes straight acrros, so we do not have a "power alley". Yesterday these "wonderful" new dimensions contributed to 3 home runs that should have been fly outs, as HP defeated Buffalo Grove 15-9. Our park is, at best, a large little league park.

The strange thing is in 2 games Risi has not hit a WF home run. He did hit 2 in Memphis where the lines were very similar to the old Wolter's Field. HP defeated mather 20-0 on Friday.
