How is Loy (Rowlett) doing this year - he's second on DMN's area list for stolen bases, but not on any other list. I thought he had a real good soph year...

I hear that PantherSon is having a nice year. 3-0 with a no-no and hitting around .420.

Kaleb Merck is both doing well on the mound and at the plate for Keller. This kid is the real deal.

Stramp doesn't like the position players to pitch, But he made the exception on him..

Coach has been moving Kaleb around defensively to protect his arm, and I wouldn't say that he Coach doesn't like position players to pitch, I think he's just a little weary after the Michael Ward situation.

And Easom hasn't done any worse than anybody else at the plate, just all of our bats have been soft.

SS - Hainsfurther from HP is excellent both offensively and defensively.

Jantzen Witte at Arlington Martin does it offensively and defensively. As a Freshman he was one of the top ranked tennis players in his age group in the nation and gave tennis up to play baseball.

There are a couple of '08s at Poteet worth mentioning. JT Files and Teddy Nowell.

Files and Nowell are studs as well. What summer team do they play for?

Tim Maitland- Most underrated outfielder for 08s.

JS- Mentioned widely on this board before

Chris Lewis- Although his record doesn't show it, his 2 earned runs for the year speek for itself... left handed stud.

Beau Poston- Amazing hitter, very underrated outfielder with a great arm

Mike Ritter- Catcher

I second Beau Poston. He is one of the toughest outs we have faced for the last several years. He never gives an inch and he is a stud in the CF also.

I dont recall that many errors when he pitched. But I'm old. But his neck was probably sore.

I talked to him personally and I can't remember if the number was 2 or 3 earned runs but it wasn't more than that. Of course I guess not every personal account of earned runs should be trusted so I don't know.

Aflac invites went out yesterday. Know of two kids selected so far from DFW. Just curious if all you experts have heard who was selected?

i second the mention of Carson Blair...kid played up with us a few years back with the Blackhawks and struggled but he played great defense when he did and swung a pretty good stick. Can only imagine how much he's progressed from being a freshman playing with sophomores who played most 18U to now.

I must say that short s****** son that a DBAT guy has isn't too shabby. We who are challenged in height must stick together. Having said that, I hope he grows a ton! He just won't be able to be apart of this group.

I don't know where he plays summer ball either so I can't speak to what he has done around the area. But I enjoy watching the kid play, very exciting offensive threat, he can bunt for a base hit any time or smack one off the fense.

TRUE Story..... There is a kid on my son's H.S. team that is putting up simular numbers/talent
we brought him out last summer, PDson struck him out 3 times in a row in our first game, quit/went home with tears.... just saying!!! Not that this kid will do the same

PD you are right on with JS and WK. Ben hasn't played a whole lot of high profile tourneys as everyone knows he's a stud wrestler that has demanding
schedule. I was told he will play baseball only this summer with the Giants. I'm sure there will be others that will have invites from DFW.
The Big O uses this as a recruiting tool for kids(parents) that are still undecided where to play this summer.

Well, I threw in BG because of the O-factor. I think the other two are deserving, among others in the area.

I put up for the kids I can remember. It's hard to remember all the good ones since all these new kids are on certain teams...

Without sounding like a jerk, highest level guys dont play 2b or lf, it s just a fact, not to say these guys arent good hs players, but 99% of the time scouts and d1 coaches dont have much interest in HS guys at those spots, they move guys to those spots. If a guy plays 1b he better be able to rake as well, and I think Nico can rake, or will rake.

BB39, don't tell that to David Eckstien.

Listen, he is the 1 % not included in the above post. Go find all the other Ecksteins...they are the 1 %, I love those types as much as the next guy but they are the exceptions, not the rule.

BB39, surely by If you don't mean infield..last I checked, shortstop was one of the best athletes on the field.

I know what you are saying about 2b though. A guy in our district played 3rd as a junior and signed with TCU this fall. He made the transition to 2b this season because TCU says he doesn't have the size for a 3rd baseman

I think BB39's "lf" means left field, not infield.
