After watching some of the clips my son in the past and still some to this day battles "hip slide". What causes this? Any drills to improve?
Exactly what do you mean? Do you have a video to illustrate this?
In general, a good hitter's hips stop moving toward the pitcher at the time, or just after, their front heel plants. At this point, the front knee starts to extend which causes the hips to rotate (rather than keep moving toward the pitcher).
One way to keep the hips from keeping sliding forward toward the pitcher is to at least firm up the front knee if not extending it.
