I just read this very touching and difficult story.

From a home run in his last AB in Fall Ball to never playing baseball again.
Stories like this are gut wrenching, just gut wrenching.
On the one hand, I love reading the posts in CD's thread on "When things didn't go my way."
On the other, it seems so unfair a player like this, and his family, teammates and coaches won't be able to enjoy such experiences.
Something tells me Chance Veazey would be a player with a story to fit in CD's thread.
Hopefully he will in the future. His story won't be about baseball. it appears.
But, I sure hope we read his story, some day, about what he accomplished when things didn't go his way.

'You don't have to be a great player to play in the major leagues, you've got to be a good one every day.'

Heartbreaking.

Sometimes doors open when others close...

I remember when we lived in Mimai and Dolphins Linebacker Nick Buoniconti's son Marc took a hit in a college game and became a Quadraplegic...

...in the 25 years since he has helped raise $600M for research, his center The Miami Project, has advanced some amazing medical breakthroughs, and they have given help and hope to millions.

I just read this story that O44 just posted the link to. It's long--11 pages. But very definitely worth the time and effort to read it. In fact, please do.

I alternately gasped "Oh, my God", and gasped "Wow".

The "Oh, my God" moments were more frequent....and turned into a prayer.....with an understanding that there are angels and saints who live among us.

Wow. Oh, my God.

This young man needs all of our prayers. It sounds like he loves life and so, is working so very hard at his recovery.

No one coaches for very long without some tragic story. I could tell you a couple that would also tear your heart out. I know I still cry once in a while over a couple of my former players and their tragic loss of life. This school community and team will also need to be in our thoughts and prayers.
