Can't respond as to the rarity of the feat, however, 2010 son missed it twice this year by only one piece. First time he couldn't quite get a single, however the homer was a grand slam. Went 4 for 5 that day! The next time missed it by not getting a double, went 4-5. Had great days both times. Wish they were all that good...

Locally, we had 1 last season and 2 this year. We have 6 HS teams in Lubbock, two of which are TAPPS. Monterey Coach Fred Oliver, who has had several state championship caliber teams in 30(+) years, had his first player do it last year. Coronado Coach Jimmy Webster and TAPPS Trinity Coach Travis Walden, each had 1 player do it this year.

Oddly, in the two this year, I believe the single was the final hit. And the HR's were GS, I know the TAPPS kid's HR was a grandslam!!

So I'd agree..... a very special achievement.
