All summer, whether it be in the cage or during a game, I've had one consistent problem with my swing. I make a lot of contact, but 9 times out of 10 it's a pop-up that barely hits the outfield. I've gotten some hits like this, but it's not reliable or a good habit. Any advice? (I've already tried focusing on hitting the ball down. Didn't work.)

what's really helped me alot is keeping the lead arm up and in line with the pitch. It's hard to explain in the written word, but before, when I strode (sp?) and bring my hands back, I'd bring my front elbow down touching my chest, which also dropped my hands making me swing under the ball. Now I keep my lead elbow up more in my stance and I keep it that way when I bring my hands back. A cue that might help, instead of "throw the knob of the bat at the ball", try "throw the lead elbow at the ball" and see if that works.
Everything I can think of has been said by someone already so all I can do is offer my $0.02 about how to fix it.

The tee is the best training tool ever invented in my opinion. I hit off of it everyday before going into lives. Hitting off the tee will get your mechanics down to muscle memory. THAT is the time to be thinking about your mechanics NOT when you are hitting lives. Have someone look at you swing who really knows their stuff. I mean, we all can tell you what COULD be wrong but none of us have seen you hit so we can't tell for sure what's wrong. If you can't figure it out on your own have someone look at it and hit a ton of reps off the tee until you have it down. It takes time. Hitting is the hardest thing to do in sports. I can't remember who said this but "They give you a round ball and a round bat and tell you to hit it square." I think it was Clemente, but I'm not sure. Good luck.
