From a guy that grew up on Russ Hodges and his great great home run calls, I have to admit that now I have found a new favorite.
Jim Leahy, who does play by play for K5 in Honolulu, has perhaps the most unique call in all of baseball. His style is understated yet thorough, and he has a great sense of humor. When a Hawai'i batter cranks on one it's..."that one is hit way back...waaaay back...and....that ball is Aloha!"
My meager words really don't do justice to his poetry.
"There are two kinds of people in this game: those who are humble and those who are about to be." Clint Hurdle

Is he a student or more of a pro?

Many college stations do their school's games and its kinda funny to listen...

"Jones RIPS a fastball DEEP, DEEP into the GAP!....and Smith comes in to wait for the lazy popup behind the second baseman." Big Grin

I sometimes listen to the game while I'm at the game and the description is often far from what I'm seeing on the field. They're learning too. Cool

The best college announcers I've ever heard were at Univ. of Washington...sounded like you were listening to ESPN Radio. Outstanding!
