"why'd ya have to say 50 eggs?"
Naturally, my favorite movie. Cool Hand Luke! Smokey, one of my goals in life was to be able to say that entire quote. I've worn one video out of that movie and now am about to wear out a second one. DVD next. I watch it about once a month. My "favorite scene" is when he is broken and comes into the barracks and falls down. He holds his hands up and all the guys turn away. No one takes his hand to help him. So, he ask, "Where are you? Where are you NOW!" Been there!
Coach – one of my favorite movies of all time as well and part of the DVD collection. I remember seeing it for the first time in the theater. Great Flick!
Like after he eats the 50 eggs, just in time to win the bet, and he’s laying on the table with the camera panning away from directly over-head… remind you of anything???
HSBBWeb sometimes reminds me of one of its most famous quotes;
Captain – “What we got here is... failure to communicate.”

A classic movie. Here is a clip from the classic scene:

Paul Newman was a great actor. It wouldn't surprise me if he actually ate 50 eggs to make his stomach look rock hard. Strother Martin was excellent as the Captain in the above scene.
Have you ever had someone come online, describe your house and threaten your son after he hit a game winning home run in a LL all-star game against the poster's son's team. There are a lot of sick wackos out there. I will never again provide enough information online to allow anyone to connect the dots, figure out who I am and where I live. When a poster asks about my son or me, I make sure I know who they are first or they live a long way away.quote:Originally posted by NelsonGord:
Why don't people just use their real names, real locations, and then post their "original" thoughts? That way instead of hiding behind a computer with some make believe name, you stand up for what you believe in as a person. It doesn't make sense to me any other way . . . and that whole topic that was deleted would be a non-issue because the whole problem came from people speculating who was who. Just my thoughts . . .
It was economic growth based in the dot.com boom and the institution of home loans to people who couldn't afford them. Clinton just happened to get out the door before the bubble burst. I'm not going to defend Bush since I believe he could have done a lot more as president, but in the case of Clinton's economy, Bush got stuck without a chair when the music stopped.quote:Under Clinton, we had a surplus and 8 years of uninterupted economic growth.
We do not have a natural economy. The more the government attempts to legislate and stimulate the economy the bigger the thud will be on the back end.
That explanation of the Clinton economy is too simplistic to argue with. What Clinton did to hurt the American workers and our economy was push free trade. But it sounds like you believe in a total free market.
This crises was helped by deregulation. Bush was there for that. He wasn't just a disinteersted bystander.
