Pitcher throws on Monday and again on Wednesday. Is that considered one day of rest or two? (I figure I'm the only one on here not sure about that basic question)

By "definition" in BB terminolgy your example would be considered one days rest. The reference refers to # of consecutive days between pitching appearences, not including the days pitched.

Here is another way to look at it, between games, you should set aside one hour of "rest" for each pitch thrown. 90 pitches would equal 90 hours of rest between appearances.

As I recall, at least one pitcher, many years ago, appeared in three major league games in a day.
If you pitch on Monday, rest 24 hours, and pitch on Tuesday, seems you've had about a day of rest.
