Forney is always in the mix. New coach and lots of returning starters. There are 3 seniors that should lead the way with 5 juniors and probably 1 soph. They only lost 2 starters from last year, interested in what the new coach can do, expectations are high
Met the new coach at a Rice camp last summer. I have posted before that I think the baseball people in Forney are really going to enjoy this. My son had a blast playing on his camp team. I even heard Coach Farrow tell one of the Rice coaches to "Sit down bus driver." We scrimmage Forney at noon on saturday, weather permitting. I might have more to report next week, but I am only good at reporting the good things I see.
even though forney got hot in '08 and had a good playoff run the players never seemed to play very hard for boxley. i think the coaching change is a good one and i look for forney to finish a very close second to red oak in 15-4A. look for the jack-rabbits to make it to the third round.
I've got a son on the team, but am 200 miles away. Anyone have any info on impact players, players to watch, etc. Any info or insights would be greatly appreciated. With my work schedule here in Round Rock, it's difficult to see many games, not to mention keep up with how the players are doing.
Impact players at the plate should be K. Jeffrey, T. McEuen & J.Etherly, H. Sutton. On the bump will be C. Blackmon, K. Jeffery along with Etherly, Hay and White. Forney is returning 5 All District players
Forney should be the best defensive team in the district and with the new coach the pitching staff should be improved but with no true power arms. You should see Poteet, Red Oak and Forney in a close race
forney, red oak, and poteet should not have any problems making the playoffs. i think the 4th spot will be between mabank and terrell followed by west mesquite and lancaster. the top three teams should match up pretty good with 16-4A in the playoffs. i know that midlothian opens the season ranked 10th in the coaches poll, but i think corsicana will win that district followed by midlothian, ennis, and waxahachie.
no dog in this hunt, but have played with a couple kids on Forney's team in the past...if the rest of the team is as good as those boys we played with...Forney is in for a terrific season!
Does anyone know where to find the tournament bracket for the I-30 Classic? I found Forney's other two brackets on the Tyler Lee and Waxahachie websites. Any help for a "long distance" Jack Rabbit dad?
Forney should have a really good team but the heart of the team is the 3 seniors Jeffery, Etherly and McEuen. The difference between Forney being good and great is the leadership and contribution of the these 3 seniors. If they produce Forney could go a long way. Blackmon and Sutton will be will be good on the hill and behind the plate and Sutton should be good with the stick. This is a good team with lots of team players.
Sutton was the varsity catcher for Forney last year, and he is quite good behind the plate as well as a good stick. If I'm not mistaken, he was all district as well.
