The thing to remember when something like that happens is that it may full well have an impact on the way something else later in the inning is scored. FI, depending on how that batter-runner gets on, if he scores, it may be either an earner or unearned run.
Let’s say its marked a WP, and the next 2 batters strike out, but the 3rd hits a triple to drive in the run. ER.
But let’s say it was marked a PB, then everything else happens exactly the same way. This time it’s a UER.
