I know I am late to this OP about "How many actual scouts at PG events", but I wanted to chime in to hopefully help other people...

My son would email numerous programs (Head Coach, Hitting Coach & Position Coach), and let them know when & where he was playing in big PG Tourneys (and other big tourneys), and of course, why he felt he was a good fit for their program if they were looking for an "xyz" player, etc.

Some times, he would not hear back from said coaches, BUT very often one some of these coaches would be at the entire game watching him before they contacted him.  The old saying of "You never know who is watching you play, warm up, how you handle an error or a strike out" is very true IMO.

I'm sure many on this board will attest, there are numerous stories of where a scout came to a game to watch some stud pitcher or SS and someone else showed out...

* Again, player needs to reach out to programs and coaches in advance that he is even remotely interested in to LEVERAGE these tourney games and opportunities.

Best of luck!

I’m at the 16u World Series in Orlando. It seems like every D1 coach in the country is here. I’ve never seen this many in one place.

Yes, and they all already have a list of who they want to watch while they are there. If you are on that list, and you show well, something good can come of it. If you aren’t on that list (and most of the players there aren’t) good luck!

The sad thing is how many player’s families put up the money to attend to throw spaghetti off the wall and see what sticks. The long shot is being on the right team with other stars and shining while they’re being scouted. But colleges coaches don’t even make offers to everyone they’re scouting.

Here is a funny story from yesterday.  We were at the 14u PG WS quarterfinals.  Number 1 ranked kid in the country was on the mound, so drawing a crowd and a lot of attention.  I’m watching one of the games next to that game and a big SEC recruiter comes over starts to watch the game and pulls out his speed gun.  Next two pitches the PG social media guy comes over and stands right in front of him and starts to video the game.  The recruiter waited for the social media guy to leave, but I thought it was a bad look for PG.
