I recall meeting TXMOM in Tempe Az when her son Dan was playing against ASU.

This morning I saw a great piece on ESPN Sports Center on Dan Ortmeier and how Barry Bonds has sort of taken him under his wing with regard to hitting. Dan in MLB camp with the Giants as one of their 40 man roster.

Had the pelasure of watching Dan a number of tiems last season in Norwich, CT while at the Double A level

older I get the faster time flies.. I just wonder if barry is the one to teach him... I dont think to many should try to copy his swing.

N Dont think he is trying to make Dan copy him more into teaching him solid fundamentals and both are lefty hitters.

In my mind Bonds ain't a bad guy to have taking you aside and talk hitting

true hit. I just have never been a big fan of his swing. He uses it very well though. Ken griffey comes to my mind as well. But to have as a mentor I would think he is in good hands.

If Barry takes an interest in a player, that player besides having a lot of baseball talent must have some outstanding social skills. I doubt Barry has given many young guys the time of day.

Thanks, TR and others! It seems like yesterday when we met at the ASU game in 2001.

He called last night to give us a heads up about the interview. I still can't believe that's the same kid that was absolutely terrified in speech classes.

I enjoyed not only hearing about Daniel's bright future, but also seeing what a poised and sincere young man he is. Very well-spoken, and seems to be a player any of our sons could look up to.
