Hoop,
Thanks for the reminder. I just filled out my envelope to send my small donation. I know it's not much but if we all chip in it will help make the HSBBW available to parents and players throughout the world.
Many times I have paid for hitting instructors, pitching instructors, gloves, bats and batting gloves. I have driven many miles to tournaments and showcases. My Hotel/Motel bills could have purchased at least one Holiday inn. But you know the one aspect of this whole ride that was the catalyst. . . . . The High School Baseball Web. I say that in all honesty. The reason the HSBBW is so important is because INFORMATION is the most important aspect in the recruitment and development of your son! If the HSBBW goes away, so will that information. For six years I’ve been getting information from the HSBBW. It helped me help my son make the HS team. . . It helped him select a summer program. . . The HSBBW praised him when he did well and understood when he faltered. It helped with the draft and the subsequent negotiations with the MLB club. . . It helped with the college recruiting ride. First, let me say Thank You Bob, and now I’m sending my small donation.

Merry Christmas HSBBW!

Consider this chain of events. We bought our son a whiffle ball, bat, and tee at 3 1/2. At 5, he wanted to play tee ball. Next came Little League, then travel ball. After starting travel ball, a friend suggested that we send him to Thunder Baseball School to hone his skills. Took him for pitching lessons and he was asked to play for Thunder. During his Thunder career, a Thunder Dad said, "Check out HSBASEBALLWEB.COM. After finding the site, we worked constantly on following the "Recruiting Timeline" and learning as much as possible from all the great posters who had experience in every facet of baseball. Last spring, my son signed a D1 scholarship to play "College Baseball". Many steps led son to this point in his career. The step that taught us EVERYTHING WE NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT THE BUSINESS SIDE OF BASEBALL was FREE! Thank you Bob! The check is in the mail.
I actually stumbled on this site one night. What I enjoy the most is being able to share thoughts and discuss issues with alot of people that I have so much in common with. I have learned a great deal from the parents on this site. Many of you have given me great insight on how parents perceive coaches and their decisions and I think this has helped me understand where they are coming from much better. The one thing I have learned is the players that have parents envolved usually are the cream of the crop. Not all the time but in many cases. This is because parents care about the things that are really important to their kids. And if baseball is really important to a kid they are going to put everything they have into it and that is what makes the difference. This site allows us to learn from one another and understand other points of view. It doesnt mean that we are going to change how we feel especially about are core beliefs. But hey thats ok. We can learn to understand the other side and that goes a long way. I too will contribute to help this site stay alive because I want not only myself but those to come behind us to have this available to them.
Fungo you and the others are much better at words than I am. I do know when I have been helped by someone and Bob has sure helped me and my son.
That is what I really love about this site, a parent can come here and learn how to help their son.
Bob has given a huge amount of time and yes also his own money to help parents to help thier sons. I know that this site is about baseball but the bottom line really is Bob wanted to help young men reach their goals. he has not charged anyone a dime.
I have read the article Bob wrote about how little information he could find when he was helping his son to advance in baseball and how it inspired him to start this site.
I can come to this site and read post from the parents of pro players, scouts, showcase directors, coaches from summer ball all the way through D1, sports agents the list goes on and on. while I love to read the post by these people I still tell new comers to start with the articles Bob has colletcted, it will give a parent or player a huge head start to understanding the process of baseball starting from a young mans freshman year in HS.
A HS player could learn so much from this site by reading the post by coaches he would have a great advantage on his HS team.
LOL he can even come here and ask qustions of umpires and he will sure get an answer, he will also learn that umpires are truly there because they love the game and care about kids.
I, just like you spent a good bit of money on showcases and summer teams and well we all know how much it cost, I dont like to think about it I get a little dizzy. I would say that besides actually playing the game my son was helped by this site most of all.
My check also will not be a great amount but heck there is sure a lot of people here so...
bump...

Please mail in your gift today and show your kindness and support to the "Grand-Pooh Bah" in recognition of his hard work in maintaining this great site that we all enjoy so much, the "World Famous" High School Baseball Web.

Bob, a special "THANK YOU" applaude for the knowledge we gain daily, the fun we have (even sometimes during work hours) and the memories of this web site will last forever and ever.
