Yea all you guys stay safe and warm if possible. Last week we got snow down here in south Texas. I was working outside at the plant with snow coming down pretty hard for awhile. Earliest snow down here of my lifetime although we had a lot more on Christmas four years ago. Just not sure about this global warming thing although from April to September it seemed like we got a only a few drops of rain.
RZ (my neighbor to the east),

Now that was funny: "To the rest of you, when its all over try to find us."

By the time I drove home from work tonight we had a few inches of snow and roads were slippy-slidey. We are expecting something like 9 to 10 inches by the time it tapers off tomorrow. Then it is supposed to get very cold and the winds will pick up. What a lovely combination!

What sorts of fun is the weatherman predicting for your neighborhood?

Hard to tell. In Madison reports range from 15-20 inches of snow has fallen but the worse is yet to come. It's weird because the Milw area 70 miles away has been basically untouched. Thousands here are without power, the Governor has shut down State services, the UW has closed for the third time in history, and the interstate is closed around Madison. Trees and power lines are down all over the neighborhood and this will be the best part of the next 2 days. The forecast calls for a few more inches of snow, followed by 30-50 mph winds, sub -20 windchills, and ground blizzards. A high of 7 tomorrow.

"what a way to start the winter! usually a few little storms gets you geared for the season..."

I know what you're saying 20dad! You get the same deal back your way as well I'm sure...

A day or two looks like this as September wanes. The lawn doesn't know whether to bundle up to stay warm or duck down to avoid the mower.

.

.
Every once in a while this raisin studded guy shows up to trick or treat and freeze your feet.

.

.
And as the end of November comes upon us sometimes we have to stuff the ol' bird in the fridge just to keep it warm!

.

.
I agree...it's nice to ease into winter. How are you doing rz...are you to the end of the drive yet?

Let it snow..let it snow...let it snow!!!

Probably have 4 - 5 inches on the ground right now with a few more before it is suppose to turn over to freezing rain and then rain. By the time I get home to clean it all up it will weigh a ton!!

Beats the ice storm we had a year ago this week!! I'll take snow over ice any day!

Only 3 + months till baseball season starts up here!!! (If the fields are clear of snow that is!!)

Just got this email from my husband's brother in Oconomowoc (between Milwaukee and Madison):

quote:
This is one big, bad, unpredictable snow storm. I am taking my "required day off" today. Last night the power went out for 3-4 hours. Not a good thing when you need heat and the temp's are in the 20's and tonight -1 degrees. There is a blizzard warning out until midnight. The snowblower can't handle the hard slush this morning. Altogether this area is expected to have 10-15". A real joy. It reminds me when Bruce and I shoveled snow for $5- $7/house. Is he available?
I'm in my beach house on the north shore of Boston. It's right on the beach. It's so rainy and windy it's as if someone turned a fire hose on the house. The entire front of the third floor is sliding glass doors. I'm bailing water out of the runners every ten minutes. It's not an issue with the way the house was built. This is all new stuff in the last seven years. It's just raining that hard. It's sideways. I was thinking of going out. But I don't want to get soaked in the ten feet from the house door to the car door.

To borrow from a Marx Brothers movie .... I'm stranded here by myself, one guy. Either send help or one woman. Maybe Tiger can spare one. Only kidding! I'm taken. And there's more dangerous stuff at home than golf clubs. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of one of my arrows. I'm guessing an EXO is harder than a golf club.

Great line from Chicago after loading up her husbands drink, "Poor guy! Just can't handle his arsenic."

Born in Ohio, moved to Elmira and then back tp Ohio before I was 2 yrs old.

First words were " GET MY BUTT OUTTA HERE TO SOMEPLACE WARM OR YOU"LL NEVER POTTY TRAIN ME"!!!!

Dad agreed with my superior diaper logic and headed to Gainesville, Fl. Lived there with no air conditioning for 8 years and still didn't thaw out. Loved every minute we lived there.

Even to this day I wear long sleeves in the summer and freeze at 55 degrees. My sympathies to the poor souls up north this time of year because I couldn't take the temps you deal with all the time. Yeah, you may not like the 95 degrees that is heaven to me but just the thought of what is happening today up in the Northeast/Midwest gives me the shakes.

Stupid thing is I'll go muskie fishing in Minnesota in freezing weather anytime and love it. Yeah, alot of people tell me I need help.

Right now it's an ocean house. There's no beach. The high tide is rolling into the berm. Down the beach where there isn't berm graders were scraping mud off the street and sidewalks.
cd,
Your kid has wheels and a good arm, has he ever thought about a part-time job under center for the Brownies? Wink

Hope the mercury starts to rise for all of us. I thought the Winter was here to stay until my twin daughters called and said the their National Championship Mad-City water ski team is putting on a Winter ski show next weekend unless the lake freezes first. The show is a benefit for the UW Childrens Hospital and they said the 17 inches of snow we got Tuesday night will add to the ambiance and be a nice back-drop for the Holiday show.

Juniors in college and sometimes the IQ seems to drop faster than the thermometer. I always say step outside the box and be creative....I guess I should have mentioned that they dress appropriately.

It should be a spectacle, pics will be posted next weekend

gotwood4sale,

Nahhh, been a subscriber for years. I could buy a very nice car with the cash I've laid out for muskie fishing the past fifteen years. Keep looking at my muskie rods/lures and try to figure out how to use them for largemouth LOL. Wife would shoot me if she knew how much cash all that stuff represents. Thinking it's time to ebay some of it.

Feeling the urge to schedule a trip north just typing about it. Told you I need help.

Hhmmm...baseball or fishing? I think the son will have to get over me missing a game or two; he'd be more mad about not going with me...he'll get over it.
