GWTW62 Thanks for checking in. Amazing you didn't lose power. Irene was a weird storm! 50 miles can make a big difference in storm surge. Best of luck with clean up - Hopefully the volunteers will be arriving soon, our church sent a group, and know Baptist Men will too. It truly breaks my heart to hear of all the damage. We North Carolinians love our beaches, and take hurricanes personally.
on a side note, we had tornado damage this spring - the lookie loos were so irritating, bless their little ole hearts.

Just got our power back, this morning. On Sunday afternoon, the back wind from the storm kicked up. A tree across the street fell, taking the whole street's wires with it. I watched the whole thing from my front yard. In slo-motion. It was close, but I knew it would miss me. I forgot about the wires, though... until everything around me blew up. (note to self- next time, get out of there)
Our homes were spared, by inches. The tree did land on my neighbors' car. Nobody hurt. No big deal, by any means. It was nothing.
Still catching up on what the not-so-fortunate went through. Sorry to see all that stuff. I was in Northern NJ yesterday. They got hammered by flooding. Part of I287 washed away.
