....that this day would finally arrive.

I have decided to shut down the High School Baseball Web, effective May 31. Not due to any real problems, this is a decision that I have worried over for some time now.

As most of you have noticed I have not been updating the site, or participating much on the message boards. My "real job" has been very time consuming, not leaving proper time to take care of the site as I feel it should be. Additionally I am scouting some now (and enjoying it immensely), which of course takes up free time as well.

I have cherished the website and will remain friends with many folks met thru this site. My suggestion to everyone is that they exchange email and contact information with each member that they hope to stay in touch with, in the future.

There are many fine state sports web sites with message boards. My suggestion for a general message board source is the Perfect Game site www.perfectgame.org

More in the next few days .... I just wanted to get this information posted today.

Whatever will we do without such a Tasty Web Jedi?!

Well understandable, Bob. My son and I thank you for all that you have put together here, and all that we have found here together. And I was exceedingly pleased to have been able to watch a ball game with you once upon a time.

I wish the best of luck to you and your family, you'll be in my thoughts.

And a big Standing O to you applaude
Bob,

I certainly understand your side, but on the other hand there is probably no real way to tell how many kids have been helped over the past years as a direct result of this great tool.

I certainly hope someone on here can step up and keep this site going.

Bob, please consider TR's offer. This site needs to keep going, you have created a information highway that serves the entire USA Baseball community, it will sorely be missed should it slip away.

Thank You many times over ! Don't let it slip away.

I always knew........but I have faith the faithful will pick up the baton. This site had been an inspiration from the beginning, as I listened to my son play in a post season game yesterday it all came flooding back the lessons learned, the light in the darkness how far we have come the curves in the road. Bob I understand how things change I wish I could help you 1/1,000,000 back how you helped my family. Good luck my friend as you turn the page. If you ever scout up North we'll leave the light on for ya!
Though I have rarely posted, I have spent nearly every lunch hour during the past year devouring this sight. My oldest son a 16 year old ’07 has already reaped the benefits of everyone’s advice. He has started all of his High School games, gone from a .302 Freshman to a .500 Sophomore and added pitching to his catching & 1st base duties. I was looking forward to starting his 8 year old brother down the same road.
First, Thank You Bob & all posters, Second Please, if at all possible keep this going. TRhit, sounds like you could carry the torch? Again Thanks to Everyone
Bob, thanks soo much for all the you have done with this site. It was truly the very best site that I have ever seen or participated on. I have learned much from my experience and will be forever grateful. While I will be sad to see it go, I understand that time and commitment it has taken on your part.

Again, thank you soo much and good luck to you!
Bob,
Many thanks and many wishes for a successful time scouting or whatever path your life takes you ! You have given my son and I the tools to prosper in the world of baseball. My son used them to gain a scholarship and I know without your help and the many posters who give of their experiences freely it may have never worked to his advantage!! You will always be cherished in our family for blazing this trail of knowledge and fun!!!
Best wishes always!!!

Bob, I like the others, hope that something can be worked out for this site.

I thank you for the information, offers of assistance, and advice you provided personally for my son. This site has provided friendships for me, information on colleges that we would never have had otherwise, and connected me to a baseball world that I love being a part of.

I keep this site up on my desktop at work on a daily basis. I'm on vacation next week - so I will have to begin to wean myself I suppose.

Bob, you are a true friend to folks that love the game. I wish the best for you and your family. If you ever come visiting Hiwassee way, please say hi!
If I may add I am already hearing from people who would be willing to help as moderators etc

As I said earlier--Bob Give me a call--I think we, the HS Web Faithful can keep this going to help all those that are coming up

Perhaps PG and ourselves can make it happen as a team

I am open to suggestions that make it easy for all but bottom line for me-- we do not want to lose this resource
While a relative new member, I too will miss the site. I have spent countless hours reading all the information and posts. We started playing this game of baseball 12 years ago. We started innocent, naïve, and full of energy. No expectations, just the pure love of the game. We now have a young, talented, promising, ballplayer. He is just starting the showcase and recruiting process still very much in love with the game. The information has help educate us along the way. The site has help prepare us for next steps of college and beyond.

Thanks for all of the info and insight and as you turn the page may all new adventures be blessed!
My son and I are among the uncountable that have benefited from the wisdom and experience of others on this website. Although I have only personally met a couple of websters, I feel like I am so familar with many who post. For example, Fungo's son Josh. Although I am partial to AU sports (being an AU graduate) I follow the program even more and watch for Josh's accomplishments even though I have never met him. As a baseball parent, I have learned about the game, about the challenges and rewards that others have experienced and I am proud to say I have experienced many of the same.
Saying "Thanks" doesn't seem like enough. You have done an incredible job with this website. We appreciate your efforts!

I wondered IF this day would ever come. Hopefully someone will take it over.

Bob, I can not thank you enough for this site. Both of mine are playing college ball, and ALOT of the reason is because of the things I learned here.

I have enjoyed meeting websters and their sons over the years. I enjoyed meeting you and your wife. I hope our paths will cross again someday. Wishing you the best, Chris
Bob- Thank you for the years, effort and sheer love you have put into this site. This has been a "daily cup of coffee". You gave us a venue to learn, share and exchange our own experiences of this game and will be sorely missed. You have seen us through H.S, JUCO and D1.The information we have recieved on this site is invaluable. Our undieing gratitude.
As others have stated, I've thought about this day, but hoped it would never come. I am hoping something happens to keep some form of this site going.

Bob, a sincere thank you for all you have done for the game of baseball at all levels. I had Andy bookmarked and cheered when he did good and felt it when things didn't work out. Glad to see he's keeping the dream alive. Because of this site and the people on it, I have teams and sons bookmarked that I know I probably will never meet, yet can still feel like family.

Best wishes for you as you pursue your scouting and other endeavors. You done good!!
Thank-you seems like such a simple thing to say in that it does not begin to encompass the gratitude felt by my family.

Like many here, I had a kid who loved to play baseball and we knew nothing about where to go from there. When you don't even know what questions you are suppose to ask, it's hard to find your way! Bob, if it wasn't for this wonderful site, we would have still been wandering around trying to find the right signposts.

Thank-you for being our guide!
Bob,
Thank you,, more than you can imagine, for what this site has done for my knowledge and the benefits all of my players have reaped from the information contained herein. I seriously hope you'll reconsider and let someone like TR or possibly Perfect Game take over running the website. There is way too much quality information here that needs to be kept available. Please, find a way to ensure that someone carries this on, someone you'd be comfortable with to run it. Too many people have benefitted from this to just dissolve it.
Thanks for everything, Bob. I first found this site in the summer of 1999 and since then you've helped our family through high school, JUCO, D1, 3 drafts, Short Season, A, and AA ball.

Over that time the most meaningful post for me was the one you shared after last year's draft disappointment. The only way that I could explain to my family the depth of emotion that I was feeling after reading it was to say that a good friend's son wasn't drafted. A friend ...that's what you've been to us all. Not an agent, coach, or someone with an agenda. Just a baseball friend.

Bob, this site will be missed, but I completely understand your decision. Take good care of yourself and your family. May God bless you all.

Bob -
Thank you! Smile I found this site back in the summer of 2001 when son was an incoming HS freshman and now he graduates on Sunday! Eek I feel fortunate to have been a small part of this great site. I hope the information can be hosted on another site to help future players and families. Thank you again Bob for all the time, money & love you have put into the site all this time! applaude
Bob ...

Though more just a reader these days than a poster, I have cherished this site since the day I learned of it. Your hard work and dedication to the hundreds, maybe thousands, of players and parents who have benefited from this hard work will place many jewels in your heavenly crown. Thank you for loving others enough to dedicate yourself to their futures.

I am hopeful that someday we might meet up in Tennessee ... perhaps somewhere near Kodak ? ... and finally put the face to the name.

If there is anything I can do from the Left Coast to help keep this site alive, I am available @ futureback_mom@hotmail.net.

Thank you.
