I've just noticed that there's a space of almost an inch between my tagline and my info-line, which I had never payed much attention to. But to now think of all the wasted cyberspace involved in my thousands of posts.....all the unecessary scrolling I've made you all do....inches, added up over hours, days, months, and years.......I feel horrible about this and I hope you'll all accept my apology.

I am so sorry.

As a result a 1% bandwidth penalty has been invoked. You are now required to post 1% more than you did before. Vicious, unwarranted, cruel penalty, maybe, but that's what the HSBBW courts have ordered.

Apology accepted! However I know this is not directly related to baseball ---- but since many people have found the HSBBW by using Google ---- I have to ask you -- have you Googled today? How much? Did you know that performing two Google searches from a desktop computer can generate about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle for a cup of tea, according to new research.

Google is secretive about its energy consumption and carbon footprint. It also refuses to divulge the locations of its data centres. However, with more than 200m internet searches estimated globally daily, the electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions caused by computers and the internet is provoking concern. A recent report by Gartner, the industry analysts, said the global IT industry generated as much greenhouse gas as the world’s airlines - about 2% of global CO2 emissions. “Data centres are among the most energy-intensive facilities imaginable,” said Evan Mills, a scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California. Banks of servers storing billions of web pages require power.
I have begun work on an optical-sensor mouse-free system which will allow your computer to 'read' your pupillary actions and move the webpage around accordingly. It's hands-free, of course. However, the beta version has not tested satisfactorily, and has caused some issues for some users.....

Yes. Shame on Al Gore, inventor of the internet.

The committee should take his Nobel Peace Prize away from him. And he should give his Oscars back, too. Big Grin
