This offseason I really want to focus on improving my pitching. I really want to improve my velocity and my command. I was wondering if it is worth the money to purchase the Thrive on Throwing program and the Jaeger bands. Or do I need to just long toss and work on my mechanics in bullpens to make improvement. Any advise or product recommendation's would be great. Thank you!

I would get in touch with Kyle Body at drivelinebaseball.com or Ron Wolforth at theathleticpitcher.com

Kyle's program incorporates things that Wolforth's program has. I also prefer the sand balls from Oates since you can throw them against a block wall and don't need netting. You also need to incorporate a solid lifting program that right now should be focused putting on body mass in the lower body, deadlifts, frontsquats, etc. Kyle should be able to help. Also check out eric cressey for lifting ideas.

Right now I would be focused on strength and conditioning as well as arm strength while you are out of season, in the winter (prior to season) you should phase into a explosive phase as well as stretching and mobility. Gain strength now and then explosiveness later.

Good luck.

Good morning,

Continue to work on your mechanics in bullpens and long toss is good too.  Just make sure you're not looking for gimmicky products.  There are no short cuts to velocity or command.  The more consistent and repeat-able you are with technique, the more your velocity will climb.  I'm sure those programs offer some great stuff just make sure you're not just looking for quick dramatic results.

Here is an article I wrote on how our bodies and arm work to get velocity through an energy shift in our mechanics.  Hope you enjoy.
